The Basics: The Monument Hill Foundation is a Colorado non-profit corporation that qualifies as a public charity under §501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. That means that donors to the Foundation may receive a tax deduction for their generosity.
The Monument Hill Foundation is a financial resource for the Monument Hill Kiwanis Club for the purpose of supporting youth and the community, with a particular focus on the Tri-Lakes Community of northern El Paso County, Colorado.
The Club: The Monument Hill Kiwanis Club (originally affiliated with Sertoma, Inc.) has been serving the Tri-Lakes community since 1974. The Club is also a §501(c) (3) public charity organized as a Colorado non-profit corporation. The Foundation: The Monument Hill Foundation was formed by the Club several years ago to provide financial support for the Club’s mission. In 2011, the Foundation was reorganized to increase its presence in the community and to improve its effectiveness as a community-wide grant making resource.
Management: A nine-member Board of Directors manages The Foundation. The Club appoints the Foundation’s Board, which includes both Club members and other individuals who are active leaders in the Tri-Lakes community.
