Court Appointed Special Advocates
Dependency & Neglect Program
The Dependency & Neglect (D&N) program supports youth and the community as they provide a voice for children of abuse and neglect in the court system covering the Fourth Judicial District, which includes the Tri-Lakes area. CASA of the Pikes Peak Region strengthens the community by recruiting volunteers, promoting community awareness, and serving our most vulnerable population, child victims of abuse and neglect.
There are approximately 900 children within El Paso and Teller Counties who have open abuse and neglect cases in the court system and CASA has volunteer capacity to serve 67% of these, leaving 300 children in need of advocacy, including sevearal who live in the Tri-Lakes area. CASA's mission is to provide a volunteer's voice in court for children who are victims of abuse, neglect, and/or domestic conflict and to promote community awareness of these issues to ensure safe and permanent homes.
